Provenance
Acquired from the artist by Ralph Elton of Clevedon Court; Acquired from the Elton estate by Professor Peter Millard c. 1967; Private collection, Canada
Note: This important work by the artist shows 'clochards' in a Paris park reflecting Hatt's deeply felt social conscience. She painted a series of pictures of down-and-outs in Paris parks, the present work being the largest, the figures composed in various aspects lying on park benches - the compositions expressing a poetic melancholy.
