Provenance
Collection of Roger Fry; by descent
Note: This painting dates from the brief time Fry and Bell were in a relationship. The brushwork is the so called ‘leopard’, divisionist technique that they experimented with at that time.
Painted from Millmead Cottage looking towards the river Wey, when Bell was staying at Millmead, Guildford in the summer of 1911.
