Provenance
The Redfern Gallery, 1929; where bought by Edward Marsh
Note: This painting was bought from the artist’s first solo exhibition at the Redfern Gallery in June 1929 by Edward Marsh one the most discerning private collectors of the interwar period. At the age of 27 Graham resigned his commission in the Grenadier Guards in order to paint. From the start his visionary paintings had a flavour of surrealism before surrealism became the vogue.
