Note: Between 1912 and 1914 Baldwin's work was exhibited widely. Often in the 'exalted' company of artists such as Lavery, Orpen and Sargent at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, or alongside Glyn Philpot, Augustus John and Walter Sickert at the National Portrait Society, his work rarely failed to get a favourable notice in the London press. He died suddenly at the age of 30 in 1915 after months of exhausting work for the Red Cross.
