Note: Fry visited Spain during 1933 where he 'accompanied Gerald Brennan to Cueves de Almanzora and there painted until the sun sank. The two men then spent the rest of the evening playing chess in the Casino and Fry aroused such friendship in the local inhabitants they begged him to settle in the area and even offered to show him a house.'
