Note: Walford studied art before WW1 and the enlisted in the 5th London Regiment as a Rifleman. He made a career as an illustrator of childrens books during the 1920s and in the early 30s moved to West Somerset. His stylised landscapes reflected the influence of the inter-war art deco movement.
