Note: Arbuthnot began his career as a photographer associated with the English avant-garde and was a signatory to the Vorticist manifesto in 1914 having formed a friendship with Wyndham Lewis. During the 1920s he turned to painting retaining some of the angularity of the pre WW1 cubist movements.
