Provenance
Private collection, France
Note: Quite possibly painted at Asheham House, Sussex in c. 1912/13 when Doucet was working with Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant. As a close friend of Roger Fry, Doucet was employed at the Omega Workshops until the outbreak of WW1. His previous contact with Modigliani and Signac influenced the post-impressionist style adopted by the Bloomsbury Group.
Doucet was killed in Flanders in March 1915.
