Note: Dorothy Hepworth lived and worked in Paris for two years during the 1920s with her partner Patricia Preece (who was later to become Mrs Stanley Spencer). The two women were encouraged to go to Paris by Roger Fry who suggested that they attend a number of the painting academies. Although Hepworth resisted much of Lhote's teaching, she was influenced by his emphasis on solid form.
This work is going on loan to Charleston in Lewes for their exhibition 'Dorothy Hepworth and Patricia Preece: An Untold Story' - 27th March - 8th September 2024
